POINT OF VIEW
"No one else is you, and that is your power"
I have always been labeled a romantic or a dreamer, hungry for beauty in all its forms. To me, the decorative arts are essential to the human spirit and are in evidence in all facets of life, from the humble door handle and wrought iron railing to spectacular Murano glass objects and richly embroidered textiles.
Textiles abound in a variety of forms, from muslin sheets to lace gowns they are a part of the every day and the Special Day. From our birth to the end of our lives, fabrics accompany us and become totems, marking the milestones along the way.
Hand-embroidered textiles stitched by skilled fingers have the humanity and uniqueness of hand-wrought objects and each conveys an emotional connection. Like William Wallace in “Braveheart” carrying with him throughout his life his lover’s embroidered handkerchief, special textiles accompany us throughout our lives and reconnect us to significant events.
Through our visual and tactile senses, laces and embroideries awaken memories and reconnect us to the rights of passage in our lives, Baptism…1st Easter…1st Dance…Graduation…Wedding…1st Home…and with our first child’s Baptism, the cycle begins again for a new generation.
